Andrew Ashwin
Course Director
Andrew is an associate lecturer in the International Business School at the University of Lincoln. He spent 20 years in teaching before moving to the University of Bristol as a content developer for an online website for teachers and lecturers in economics and business. Between 2007 and 2019, he was involved in higher education publishing and was the head of higher and vocational education publishing for a leading international publisher, where he led a team publishing across business, accounting and finance, economics, psychology, management, and strategy.
Andrew has an MBA in International Educational Leadership from the University of Hull and gained a PhD from the University of Leicester researching into the assessment of threshold concepts and troublesome knowledge in economics and business. Part of the research was prompted by his work as an examiner. Andrew was the chair of examiners for a major UK awarding body and is also a subject specialist consultant in economics for the examinations regulator, Ofqual. He is also a Chartered Educational Assessor.
Andrew has an extensive publication history which includes undergraduate texts in economics and the business environment, collections of case studies, and journal articles related to my PhD research. His teaching philosophy has always been based on putting the student at the heart of the learning experience and encouraging students to discover knowledge for themselves believing that it makes the learning real and meaningful.
He lives in Rutland, enjoys music and gardening in his spare time.
