  • Define what a portfolio is and distinguish it from programmes and projects.
  • Explore the governance framework required to support effective portfolio management.
  • Identify key roles, responsibilities and decision-making structures within a portfolio environment.
  • Recognise how portfolio management enables strategic alignment and value delivery.
Day 2
Portfolio Definition Cycle
  • Understand how to define and categorise portfolio components.
  • Apply techniques for portfolio segmentation and investment classification.
  • Explore approaches to prioritisation based on value, risk and strategic fit.
  • Examine financial appraisal methods and value management principles.
  • Understand how to balance the portfolio to optimise performance and resource utilisation.
Day 3
Portfolio Delivery Cycle
  • Understand how to establish effective portfolio governance and controls.
  • Apply performance management techniques to monitor portfolio health.
  • Explore risk management at portfolio level and its relationship to project and programme risk.
  • Understand reporting frameworks and escalation mechanisms for senior stakeholders.
  • Recognise how benefits realisation is tracked and assured across the portfolio.
Day 4
Organisational Enablement & Embedding Portfolio Management
  • Understand organisational maturity models and their application to portfolio management.
  • Identify the cultural and behavioural factors that influence portfolio success.
  • Explore resource capacity planning and capability management at portfolio level.
  • Understand how to implement and sustain a portfolio office (PfMO).
  • Recognise change management considerations when embedding portfolio practices.
Day 5
Integration, Application & Foundation Exam Preparation
  • Consolidate understanding of PRINCE2® Portfolio Management terminology, principles and practices.
  • Apply portfolio management concepts through scenario-based exercises and exam-style questions.
  • Clarify common misconceptions and review key areas assessed in the Foundation examination.
  • Strengthen confidence in interpreting exam questions and selecting correct responses.
  • Sit the optional PRINCE2® Portfolio Management Foundation examination (Friday afternoon).

Qualification

Upon successful completion of the assessment, participants will receive PRINCE2® Portfolio Management certification.
