Sessions will be held each day, providing peer-to-peer exchanges and interactive discussions with the subject matter experts on content, techniques and case studies.

To ensure a varied and engaging learning experience, the course will delivered as blend of workshop activities, group exercises, presentations and self-reflective materials.

This course is delivered in two parts:

  • Part 1: Day 1, 2 and 3
  • Part 2: Day 4 and 5 (approximately one month later)

Important: Attendance at both parts is required to complete the course and receive your CPD certificate.

Susan Haird

Course Instructor

Susan spent the major part of her career as a civil servant, working for the UK Government. Her postings as a senior civil servant included major leadership roles as CEO and Deputy CEO of UK Trade and Investment; Director of Export Control and Non-Proliferation in the then Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); and Director of Human Resources  and Change Management  in the DTI.

Susan‘s career was very international in scope. As Director of Export Control and Non-Proliferation, she was the UK Governor on the boards of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague.

Zahoor Bargir

Course Instructor

Zahoor is a personable and versatile finance trainer who is experienced in delivering training that is interactive, effective and fun. A qualified accountant by profession, he has worked as a consultant and manager in numerous sectors before specialising as a trainer.

He has worked at companies like PwC, Diageo and UNICEF, as well as start-ups and other SMEs. Experience of working in different industries has made it easier for him to tailor his training to people working in a variety of sectors.

Emma Ellse

Course Instructor

Emma works with business owners, leaders, and executives to help them build and grow businesses they are genuinely excited to work in. She provides support as a sounding board through challenging times and helps leaders create a clear strategic direction and plan for the sustained development of their organisations. Emma uses mentoring, coaching, and training to support senior team members in becoming inspiring managers and leaders, and to help executives build confidence and reach their full potential in their careers.

Emma has a 25-year career in senior marketing roles across multiple sectors, working in both B2B and B2C organisations. Her experience spans strategic planning and the execution of cross-channel marketing and branding, as well as management and leadership. She is qualified in strategic marketing planning, digital marketing, and higher education teaching, and uses this blend of experience and qualifications to deliver bespoke support tailored to her clients’ needs. Emma has also run several start-up businesses and, for the past five years, has led a successful coaching, mentoring, and training business.

Emma is a member of the Association of Business Mentors and holds the following professional recognitions: FIDM (Fellow of the Institute of Data & Marketing), FCIM (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing), and FHEA (Fellow of Advance HE). Alongside her work with businesses, she also works part-time as a Senior Lecturer in the Business School at the University of Lincoln.

Qualification

This course offers participants the option to achieve a globally-recognised Chartered Management Institute Level 7 qualification should they opt to complete the assessment criteria.

Assessment

After attending the training course, participants can choose to submit two written assignments of between 3500 and 4500 words each. The assignment will then be graded by the CMI and successful candidates will be awarded the Chartered Management Institute Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice.
